Festival Passes are now on sale! Only a 100 Festival Passes will be sold for this year’s festival. The pass includes admission to all the screenings (Sept. 18-25), parties, and the invitation only closing night party gala! Festival passes will only be sold through the website, and are sold on a first come first serve basis until all are gone! The festival passes are valued at $150, but we are selling them for less than half the price for only $65! So we do expect these to sell out very fast. Pass holders will be able to pick up their badges in person before, and during the festival at The Screening Room(127 E. Congress) box office after September 16th. Get yours before they are all gone! Individual Tickets for each film will be sold for $7 an hour before the film begins at the venue’s box office.

Here is six of the first picks for this year’s festival. The full schedule will go up the first week of September. Festival passes go on sale Aug.23rd, and will be limited to only a 100. They will go on sale through this website untill all of them are gone.

Snowman’s Land
This German-language hitman dark comedy will be having its North American Premiere at the festival this year.

Machotaildrop
A highly visual and fantastical journey about an amateur skateboarder, who realizes his dream of turning pro and riding for the world’s greatest skateboard company… Machotaildrop.

Beyond The Grave
Beyond The Grave is a Brazilian horror film that has been on everyone’s watch list since the trailer was released over a year ago. Now completed, it will have its World Premiere at this year’s festival. Director Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro will be an attendance for a Q&A.

The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu
This horror comedy has been one of the most talked about films of the year, and we are proud to have it screen at this year’s festival. Are you ready?

Last Rites of Ransom Pride
This will be the North American Premiere of this stylized western action film. Starring Dwight Yoakam, Kris Kristofferson, Lizzy Caplan, and Peter Dinklage.

A Serbian Film
We are going to be leaving skid marks across the state of Arizona with this film. Yes, the title is right. We are presenting the Arizona Premiere of A Serbian Film. No one under 18 admitted.

Early Picks to be Announced Aug 16th! WAB Deadline ends on August 17th!

On August 16th we will be announcing the first pick of films for this year’s festival. This year will be an 8 day festival from Sept. 18th to Sept 25th with several venues around Tucson presenting the best of underground/independent cinema, with a screening in Tempe. Festival Passes will go on sale Aug. 23rd with only a 100 to be sold. These passes will get you into any screening, parties, and the invitation only after party on Sept. 25th. Passes will only be sold through this website, these will sell out fast, so get yours as soon as you can.
We have one deadline left to get your films in! WAB Extended Deadline ends on Aug 17th. This will be your last chance to get your films to be in consideration for this year’s festival, so send them in. Call for submissions for the 2010 Arizona Underground Film Festival are now underway! Submit your shorts and features in the categories of Narrative, Horror, Documentary, Experimental, Animation, and Exploitation! Now in our 3rd year we have become an 8 day festival, with screenings in both Tucson and Phoenix, and we are looking to include 75 films in this year’s festival. Modern Love is Automatic revolves around the life of a nurse named Lorraine Schultz, played by Melodie Sisk who finds herself in a mental state of boredom, a very existential place, searching for something more to life. This leads her to explore a second secret life, moonlighting as a dominatrix. She has a strange but very telling relationship with her roommate Adrian, played with the perfect amount of innocence and quirkiness by Maggie Ross. Modern Love is Automatic is a film that is full of surprises, humor, and just the right amount of heart. Don’t miss encore, and final screening of this cult underground film!

The dates of The Third Arizona Underground Film Festival will be September 18th thru the 25th. We will be starting to ask for submissions beginning in mid February. We are looking forward to another great year with more underground and cult films screened this year then last year, and more special guests to be announced.

Arizona Underground Film Festival announces “The Arizona Underground Features Selection”. The Features Selection is a screening showcase that will play a few films left over from the festival. It will include the very best of underground and independent cinema from around the world. All films will be shown at The Screening Room 127 E. Congress St for $5 a ticket. We have heard your overwhelming demands for a second screening of Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl, and now the date is set.
