Arizona Underground announces first confirmed selections!

October 12th, 2009

The 2nd Annual Arizona Underground Film Festival will kickoff Nov 2nd with Zack Clark’s Modern Love is Automatic (official selection at SXSW, and Winner of Best of Fest Feature at BUFF) playing with the world premiere of the extraordinary local film Tigers at The Screening Room.

Closing the fest will be the appearance of William Forsythe in support of The Arizona Underground Film Festival at The Loft Cinema with a Q&A and an autograph session after a special screening of “The Devil’s Rejects” in which Forsythe offers up a memorably intense performance as Sheriff John Quincy Wydell. The last film to screen at the festival on Saturday Nov 7th is the provocative documentary by Jens Hoffman 9 to 5 Days of Porn at The Screening Room.

Other films include the very gory and twisted Japanese film Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl by special effects expert Yoshihiro Nishimura of Tokyo Gore Police fame. Chad Ferrin’s new grindhouse horror film Someone’s Knocking at the Door including a Q&A with star Noah Segan(Brick, Cabin Fever 2) is being called one the most depraved films of the 21st century.

Also screening will be Ving Rhames new horror thriller Evil Angel. Our new Exploitation category comes out swinging this inaugural year with the premiere of Run! Bitch Run! An exploitation film like no other, and we just found out it just got banned in New Zealand!

Mike McCarthy’s new film will light up the screen with killing for a smoke Cigarette Girl, also Matthew Garrett’s 3 shocking New Jersey tales in Morris County, and a throwback to 50’s drive-in horror movies with Doctor “S” Battles The Sex Crazed Reefer Zombies

As well as other feature films, we also have some excellent shorts that will be embracing the screens with some of the features, and a shorts block that includes the best of underground cinema. With over 50 films spread out over 6 days, the Arizona Underground Film Festival will happen Nov. 2nd to 7th. The schedule will be up by Oct. 15th, and there will be more info coming soon as we secure more guests and events.
